About Jigsaw Stories

Everyone has a story to tell and our team members have fascinating ones to tell, interwoven with the Jigsaw wardrobe pieces that have defined them.

Tell us your story

I'm Charlotte, a graduate artist from Oxford. I studied in Gloucestershire, specialising in sculpture with a particular love of cultural history and storytelling. I like to explore ideas behind identity in our modern world, using my experiences as a trans woman and my love of fashion as influences in my work.

How did your path first cross with Jigsaw?

When I moved back to Oxford I wanted to look for something that would keep me occupied outside of my artwork; hoping to get inspiration and avoid creative burnout. Jigsaw was a perfect little cosy shop just for that - I simply loved the clothes and I had such a warm welcome that I knew I had to work here and get involved.

What Jigsaw means to you

Jigsaw has been like a second family to me, and all credit for that goes to the lovely team in the Oxford store that have stuck together through thick or thin. It is so rewarding being able to share that love with everyone that comes to visit. I love being able to help a customer smile as they can settle in to our homely little shop and find that perfect item they were looking for.

Your most cherished Jigsaw pieces

Winter is my season! Cosy little jumpers? Autumnal colours? Yes please! This year's collection is looking to be particularly exciting. I adore my new Perdi knitted tank - the texture is to die for and it's so useful to layer in an outfit.

A small world...

As a continuation of her ever-expanding exploration of miniatures and dioramas, Charlotte has paid homage to the Oxford boutique and her own team with a downsized version of the iconic green storefront. She explains 'The Jigsaw shop in Oxford was a particularly lovely building to recreate, especially as I used to pass it as a child. A location rich in history, it was a pub and boarding house for a number of decades. I love that you can still see original features in the structure of the building, from the embellishments around the windows to the exposed brickwork still maintained in the shop.’

This delightful miniature will sit alongside her 'Reveries' series available to view from the Oxford boutique on the 1st and 2nd of December. The limited run of resin castings are an exploration of feminine identities viewed through different cultural and historical lenses.
