About Jigsaw Stories
Everyone has a story to tell and our team members have fascinating ones to tell, interwoven with the Jigsaw wardrobe pieces that have defined them.
Louise Calvert - Merchandising Manager
Tell us your story
Originally from the Lake District, I moved to Newcastle for University where I studied Psychology having always wanted to be a Criminal Psychologist. I then made the move to London where I started my Fashion Merchandising career at (the now sadly gone) Arcadia group. I have been in London now over 10 years now and have just celebrated my 9 year anniversary with Jigsaw!
How did your path first cross with Jigsaw?
I first came across Jigsaw when I visited their Hampstead Heath boutique back in 2015, where I was drawn into the store by a gorgeous wool coat in the window. It just so happened the same week I saw a job advertised in the Merchandising team at Jigsaw so I applied straight away.
What Jigsaw means to you
I feel like I have grown up with Jigsaw. I started working here when I was 22 and since then I have bought my first home, got married and made lots of friends along the way. Whether in the Warehouse, Stores or Head Office, Jigsaw is a really special place full of passionate and interesting people.
Your most cherished Jigsaw pieces
My cashmere jumpers - they are so soft and it feels like a treat every time I wear one. I also like to indulge in a Jigsaw handbag every year - you can never have too many bags right?!
Quickfire round
Your January goals
To read more - I want to wind down in the evening reading a book rather than scrolling Instagram all night.
How do you begin your day?
I always start my day with a coffee in bed scrolling Instagram (but hopefully a book going forward)!
On your to-be-read pile
I am terrible at finding the time to read a book, but I love listening to true crime podcasts on my commute. I have recently discovered the Redhanded podcast so I am working my way through all of their episodes.
The piece you go nowhere without
A Jigsaw coat - I have a wardrobe bursting with them! They see me through all year round, especially with the temperamental British weather.
Dress up or dress down?
Dress up. But I put on sweat pants as soon as I get home - best of both worlds.
What song could you listen to on repeat?
I grew up listening to The Lighthouse Family with my mum, so anything from them when I am homesick! My go to Karaoke song is always 'Say My Name' by Destiny's Child. I prefer a solo so I have all parts nailed!
How do you end your day?
I always end the day by writing down anything that's on my mind, then I can get a good night's sleep and have a list ready to tackle the next day.
