Phoebe is a portrait painter and mother of two. She has exhibited in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition three times and was chosen for the BP Portrait award in 2018 at the National Portrait Gallery. Phoebe has held four successful solo shows and continues to exhibit regularly at renowned galleries in London and beyond. Her next show will be a solo exhibition in New York this autumn.

Q: As a fine art painter, how did your practice grow into what it is today and what influences your work?

A: I started by showing my work in a small group exhibition and that got the ball rolling. I’m inspired by John Singer Sargent, John-Baptise-Camille Corot and William Nicholson amongst many other artists.

Q: Why did you choose these particular Jigsaw pieces?

A: The pin check dress is just so floaty and romantic – and it’s comfortable too. What’s not to love? I was instantly drawn to the Zip Collar Jumper. Because its cotton, it’s the perfect weight for painting in. I love the contrast stitching and the slouchy shape.’

Q: Do you borrow each others clothes?

A: Yes, a LOT of clothes stealing goes on.

Q: How would you describe your personal style compared with the rest of your family?

A: I’d say we have all have fairly similar style, particularly my mother and I, although my approach to dressing is a bit more casual and relaxed. My sister’s style is more arty.

The Dickinsons

Octavia’s eye for interior decoration reflects her early career in the art world. After spending three years in New York working for an international gallery, she returned to London where began her career in interior decoration. Octavia trained with the much-lauded Cindy Leveson, working with her on projects that included the transformation of the Goodwood Estate’s House Lodge from hunt kennels to a very comfortable, fully-staffed house. She subsequently joined Flora Soames, working on both residential and large commercial assignments before setting up on her own. Octavia lives in London with husband and little boy.

Q: Octavia, as an interior designer, how do your surroundings influence your work?

A: I’m hugely influenced by colour and pattern and take great inspiration from the English countryside. My style is underpinned by my own understanding of the colour, scene and harmony that surrounds me.

Q: Would you say you there is a particular style and approach to your projects?

A: My design philosophy is that a home should reflect its owner and should therefore be entirely unique. I believe the success of every interior depends on the often-unnoticed fine detail, so am committed to sourcing and working with the very best artisans and craftsmen to realise the most beautiful results.

Q: Why were you drawn to these particular Jigsaw pieces?

A: The suede jacket is amazing. It’s unlined and buttery soft. I love the simplicity of white tee shirt with jeans – this look it’s so comfortable, versatile and timeless. The wide leg linen trousers will become a firm favourite. The shape is flattering and they are so easy to wear – I often add a bold splash of colour in a simple silhouette to add interest to my look.

Jessica was a school teacher in London until she moved to South Gloucestershire in 1985, when Phoebe was a just a year old. Alongside her husband Simon, she has slowly created their extraordinary garden over the last 35 years. They designed it themselves from scratch and the results magical; beautiful rose gardens with maze like hedgerows, focal points with antique sculptures, a serene lake, follies, huts and arbours.

Q: Jessica, you have a beautiful family home and garden, what is the history behind the house and what is your favourite part?

A: It’s a late 17th century house which was much altered and enlarged in the time of Queen Anne. We bought it in 1985 and set to work creating a garden from scratch to compliment the house. The rustic arbour is my favourite part, but I very much enjoy watching the planting and scenery change throughout the seasons.

Q: How would you describe the importance of family?

A: Extremely important! There were 13 of us here for the duration of lockdown and we’ve been very fortunate to be able to spend it all together. It’s been so lovely to be able to enjoy mealtimes together. There’s nothing better than a natter and a good cocktail after we’ve been working hard all day!

Q: Why did you choose these particular Jigsaw pieces?

A: I love the suit because of its great cut. In fact we all had our eye on this suit – the tailoring is impeccable and I love the idea of a more relaxed style trouser.
