Summer Dress Guide

Throw on, then go. That’s the beauty of a dress. And they make you look so darn pretty, too. Here’s our edit.

The dress… for coffee catch-ups, brunch or lunch, facing the boss, cocktails at eight, first and last dates, catching bouquets, cultured breaks, picnics in parks. Countless occasions, one outfit.

By invitation only
A close friend’s wedding, a landmark birthday, or a day at the races…

We don’t get many occasions to properly dress up these days, so let’s do it right when we can. Embrace unashamedly feminine features including lace and flounces with embroidery, elegant high necklines, modern prints and ruffled hems. Now isn’t the time to dress it down either: pair with your favourite heels (we like a modern block heel, which has the added comfort benefit) and a splash of colour, either as a lipstick or clutch bag.

Sunshine state
Picnics in the park, weekends in the countryside or just brunch with the girls…

When the sun shines, you can afford to be a bit more playful. Make light work of sunny days out with maxi dresses, bold gingham checks and unabashedly bright hues. What better way to embrace the ‘anything goes’ attitude that arrives when the sun shines?

Nine-to-five, and beyond
Facing the boss, an après-work spritz or just a day in the office…

Style without the effort. If your daily commute consists of trains, buses, tubes and everything in between, hide the sticky stress under breezy linens and loose-fitting (yet smart) styles. And a cool pair of flat shoes too.

Make that a double
Cocktails at 8, date night or alfresco dining on holiday…

It’s not a wedding, but it’s more than one quick drink in the local pub (and you’re going straight from work). How do you achieve the holy grail of “effortless smart/casual”? With the options below, of course…
