While on a research trip to Copenhagen, our design team stumbled upon a store called ‘Maritime Antiques’. It housed an unusual mix of contemporary brands re-creating traditional fishermen’s attire into modern guises, alongside real antique sea faring paraphernalia such as anchors and fishing nets. This sparked the maritime story for Autumn Winter, inspiring a focus on traditional pieces such as the pea coat, the Breton and ribbed sweaters, all styled in Jigsaw’s luxurious yarns and contemporary silhouettes. Discover a simple, yet bold colour palette of navy, ecru, maritime blue, stone and mustard yellow, and play with the graphic impact of stripes and colour blocking.
Our new season knits are sumptuous and styled in rich cashmeres and wools that have been spun for their ability to showcase deep colours. Tuck slim knits like our Cashmere Purser Button Cuff Jumper into culottes or cropped jeans for an easy style statement. Or stick with classic Breton stripes. Finished with unique button details and pops of surprising colour, our pieces are contemporary enough for a little update, but classic enough to work with all your wardrobe favourites.
The ivory faux fur, Italian shearling and lace up details on our military inspired jackets and pea coats make the perfect classic frames for your roll necked, casual looks. Or opt for something bolder. Think thick yellow stripes against masculine navy. Rope tied trousers. Naval cuts and anchor finishings.
Like the Breton stripe—worn by sailors in the 1850s so they’d be easy to spot overboard—the origins of forceful yellows and rubber coating are all about practicality. Our new season accessories marry perfection with pragmatism to put you in well chartered style territory. Waterproof, with ecru contrast stitching, wear your rubber backpack with a classic long coat and trainers. Or make the most of statement heels with cut off trousers and pretty midi pleats.
